Dear Section 8 Property Owner:
The
Charlotte Housing Authority is please to inform you that we are automating
our listing of Section 8 available housing. This service is free to you
and to anyone looking for affordable rental housing.
As
an added benefit to you, the non-profit listing service, Socialserve.com,
is available on the Internet to anyone looking for affordable housing.
Currently over 8,000 people per month are searching the site for housing
in Mecklenburg and Gaston counties. You may also list your properties
that are not Section 8 without any charge as long as they meet the HUD
fair market value requirement. To find out if your units meet this requirement,
please compare your rent to the HUD Fair Market Rents listing for Charlotte.
Beginning
in March '02, the families with Section 8 vouchers looking to rent a property
will access available properties on computers at the Housing Authority,
public libraries, or home.
With
this new system, you will be able to control the information about your
properties. When a unit rents, you can remove it from the list immediately,
eliminating calls about rented properties.
The
process is very easy, does not require computer literacy, and should only
take about 5 minutes. We are confident that you will find the new system
more efficient and effective at advertising your properties. Simply register
with Socialserve.com and once you have your password, you can enter your
properties online.
We
are very excited about using this new system to streamline access for
clients and to help you list your properties more quickly and efficiently.
Thank
you in advance for your cooperation,
Charlotte Housing Authority
